Want to be a better content writer? Here are the tips that only an experienced writer can give you

Search the web and you would get plenty of advice to become a better content writer. There are forums where you would find people offering tips that sound great and tempt you to adopt them. However, after being a content writer for over five years, I found most of those tips childish. I may sound offensive, but established bloggers or content writers need something more than suggestions to use to-do lists or multi-tasking. So, here are my tips to improve your craft that I have learned the hard way.

Take break

Don’t laugh. I know it sounds childish but nothing else helps when you are stuck in a plot and don’t know how to make your heroine realize her mistake or let the detective stumble upon vital clues. A break always helps. It helps us to think afresh, review our writing, and get ideas or simply recharge our batteries.

I always take breaks whenever I am stuck. I simply shut down my laptop, go for long walk or listen to music or sit on the balcony, and sip tea. I just let my thoughts wander. I do not think about the unfinished article but just enjoy the moment. In most cases when I get back to work, the heroine herself repents and the detective discovers the weapon in the washing machine without anyone helping him out. Jokes apart, a break is the most productive thing that a writer can do. It simply makes the brain spark creativity and gives you a fresh lease of energy.

Learn to focus your mind, don’t multi-task

Multi-tasking is good, it helps you to get a lot of things done but not when you are writing. Your job as a writer needs you to give 100% attention to your craft. You cannot check FB and write about corporate taxes at the same time. Similarly, it is not possible to chat with a friend and edit a long blog on breastfeeding.

So, take up one task at a time, complete it, and move on to the next one. Leave multi-tasking for cooking, running, and other jobs.

Create your own schedule

Everyone has his own rhythm of work and you need to find your own. If you are a morning person, you should write in the morning. If night suits you, do the same. Find out the best time when your brain is at its optimum level and make it your blogging time.

Be authentic

If you have been trying all the time to please your readers, stop it immediately. To make yourself heard, you need to be genuine. So be authentic and write what you actually feel. This way, you will create a direct bond with the readers and get closer to their hearts.

Make your readers feel you

Yes, that’s important. Your readers need to feel your sorrow, happiness, and everything that you feel. So, don’t only write better and crispier, but write blog posts that your readers can feel. Choose words thoughtfully, edit your posts carefully and use the correct punctuation.

That’s it for now. I hope with these tips and your hard-earned experience you can become a better blogger in 2022.
