After a long time, the year started with a vacation. I really deserved it and enjoyed every moment. Only when I came back did I realize that it was the middle of January and I haven’t done any of the formalities that are associated with a brand new year like sending greetings to my friends, cleaning up the house, and most importantly writing my new year’s resolutions. So here I am with my fresh set of new year’s resolutions for this year. I hope with my newfound determination and your good wishes I would be able to achieve them.
Control and be wise, learn to say no
No more getting under temptation. No more saying yes to projects that deserve a no. No more taking up work that doesn’t pick my interest. I have decided to only take up projects that challenge my creativity and give me opportunities to learn. And I have decided to venture into a new field this year that I have avoided so far – technology. It would be a part of my learning process.
Time… time…controlling the elusive
I am getting serious about time. I am following the Pomodoro technique of time management. You know under this technique you need to work for 25 minutes at stretch and take a break for 3-5 minutes and again start. It’s showing results as my productivity has increased and I hope to do better with time.
Books and notes – let’s go back to learning
This is a dream and I am determined to make it a reality this year. I have an interest in different languages and always wanted to learn a few. This year I have taken up a resolution to learn French and already have found a school near my residence. Just wait before I start conversing with you in French.
The local gym is buzzing every morning with new faces huffing and puffing. I know by March most of these faces would disappear proving the fact that 90% of people do not stick to their new year’s resolutions. I won’t be another name on that list. No, I don’t plan to lose 15 kg in 3 months or do 100 pushups a day. My health resolutions are simple and practical. I would walk 30 minutes every day, give up soft drinks, and eat 2 fresh fruits every day. This is enough for me to begin my journey toward good health.
Let’s play and have fun – reliving childhood
Yes, this is one of the most important resolutions of this year. My daughter is growing up fast and I do not want to miss her childhood. I want to spend more time with her. I have planned to read with her, play with her, and just be there whenever she needs me. I want to create memories that I would cherish long after my nest gets empty.
What do you think about my resolutions? Wish me luck so that I can stick to them long enough. Share your resolutions and together we can have some fun achieving them.
